International Contest «Russian as a foreign language»

The International Contest «Russian as a foreign language» is carried out in 2 stages according to tasks developed by the methodical commission of the subject on 4 levels of difficulty ─ A1, A2, B1, B2 in accordance with the European system of foreign language proficiency levels.

The participant of the Contest has the right to choose one of four levels of difficulty of the Contest tasks.

Level А1: It is recommended for students in grades 5-6 of secondary school (10-13 years old). It can be offered for representatives of other age groups, including students in grades 1-4, students in grades 7-11, students and other Russian language experts.  In accordance with the system of levels of the Association of developers of tests in Europe - ALTE, this level is considered to be the Survival Level. In accordance with the Russian system of language proficiency - TORFL, this level - TEL, elementary level (satisfaction of elementary communicative needs in a limited number of situations of everyday communication).

Level А2: It is recommended for students in grades 7–11 of secondary school (14–18 years old). It can be offered for representatives of other age groups, including students in grades 1-6, students and other Russian language experts.

In accordance with the system of levels of the Association of developers of tests in Europe - АЛТЕ, this level is the pre-threshold level, Кеу Test. In accordance with the Russian system of language proficiency levels - TORFL, this level is TBL, the basic level (the ability to solve communicative tasks in everyday and social and cultural spheres of communication). When passing state testing it gives the right to obtain Russian citizenship.

Level В1: It is recommended for undergraduate students (18 years old - 22 years old). It can be offered for representatives of other age groups, including students in grades 1-11, graduate students and other Russian language experts. In accordance with the system of levels of the Association of developers of tests in Europe - ALTE, this level is the threshold level, Treshold / Preliminary Test. In accordance with the Russian system of language proficiency levels - TORFL, this level is TORFL-1, the first certification level (the ability to communicate on common, socio-cultural, educational and professional matters). When passing state testing it gives the right to enter the universities in Russia.

Level В2: It is recommended for graduate students (23-24 years old). It can be offered for representatives of other age groups, including students in grades 1-11, undergraduate students and other Russian language experts. In accordance with the system of levels of the Association of developers of tests in Europe - ALTE, this level is the threshold advanced level, Independent First Certificate. In accordance with the Russian system of language proficiency levels - TORFL, this level is TORFL-2, the second certification level (it allows to conduct professional activities in Russian as a specialist in humanitarian (except philological), natural science, engineering and technical profiles. When passing state testing it provides an opportunity to enter the magistracy of the universities in Russia.
