International Basic Sciences Knowledge Contest
Russian State Pedagogical University named after A. I. Herzen is one of the leading pedagogical universities of the Russian Federation. Its structure combines more than 20 faculties and 100 departments, as well as Institute of Pre-University Training, Institute of Advanced Training and Retraining, Research Institute of Continuous Pedagogical Education, Institute of Nature Study, Institute of Liberal Education, Interuniversity Center for International Cooperation, International Center for Educational Innovations, Center for Distance Learning and Telecommunication Support of Education, Language Center, Center for Technologies in Education, Center for International Education “Russian Studies”.
Academic teaching staff of the University includes more than 1700 people (permanent staff), among of whom there are about 260 Doctors of Sciences and more than 850 Candidates of Sciences. Distinguished scientists work at the University: academicians and corresponding members of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Russian Academy of Education, members of various social and international Academies, honored scientists and cultural figures, people’s and honored artists.

Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences (2000), Professor (1993), Honorary Figure of the Russian Higher Education (2004), Honorary Figure of the Russian Science and Technology (2011), Laureate of the Prize of the Government of St. Petersburg in the sphere of higher and secondary professional education (2012).
The final round of “IXth International Olympiad in Fundamentals of Sciences” was held on the basis of RSPU named after Herzen in 2013. Students from many constituent units of the Russian Federation took part in it.
